Community Projects

Point In Time Homeless Youth Count

For the last 3 years I have been the Event Producer for the Point in Time Homeless Youth Count in Reno , NV. This event is produced by 2 organizations that are near and dear to me. Nevada Youth Empowerment Project who started the Homeless Youth Count and Build Our Center. Both Organizations work together to get a gage of the young(18-24) people living in precarious situations and highlight the need in our community for Youth Housing. I volunteered for this event prior to planning it and as a citizen I was shocked at the lack of services and attention given to this population.
If you want to get involved, we'd love the help: https://www.facebook.com/HomelessYouthCount

Lots to Love Project

That's the lovely Bev from Reno News and Review.
We rescued a part of this gigantic heart. It was headed for the trash and we decided there were bigger things in-store for this gigantic piece. We gave it some love, made a stand and now intend to take it to festivals, parties and maybe your favorite HotSpot. I envision this as an ongoing community project for many causes. If you have an idea...we should talk about it:)

PSA Today
Thank you to the super fabulous Jessica The Jester Levity for inviting be a part of PSA Today. It's a weekly radio show talking with local non profits about their needs and successes.
In addition to bringing on people I love, I am able to talk about the projects I am involved in. It's one of my favorite times of the month.
(On a side note -- If you happen to know a philanthropist that would like to employ me
to do good deeds or develop community engagement projects, I am available.)

Update with all interviews. http://psatodaywilksreno.blogspot.com/

Reno Celebrity
It began as a little joke of sorts between YeVonne Allen and myself in 2011.
We both live a fairly exposed professional life. What is real is the great responsibility it brings.
We believe we owe to our community to be a good example and to encourage our friends to do the same.
So,  we printed up some T-shirts, hosted Parties and Fundraisers and other wacky things.

Luscious Ladies - A Fat Girl Fashion Show
Lauren has been a friend for years and we have the same instinct for acting out. I told her about my friend Bertha Pearl @ Size Queen Clothing and the great success she has had over the years with her fashion shows. We decided to throw an event the curvy gals in our community. Lauren designed the whole darn show. We also had a notable Body Painter on site who painted 4 models head to toe. Many in our community said..."Awww, it'll never work. Why would you do that. No one will come"

Well they did come and we packed the house with people loving and supporting women of all sizes.
